Kohli and Yuvraj sends emotional message to de Villiers

Former South African captain AB de Villiers released a statement on social media where he mentioned he didn’t force his way to be included in South Africa’s World Cup squad.

CSA reveals reason behind rejecting de Villiers
AB de Villiers disclosed that on the day he announced his decision to call it quits from international retirement, in May 2018, he was asked by a person in private from within the Cricket South Africa board just in case that the door was still open for him to take part in the World Cup.

The former South African skipper did not want to name the person who had asked him whether he was available for the World Cup, but said that was what prompted him to “casually” talk with du Plessis, the South Africa captain, during the IPL and repeat that he was available for World Cup selection but “only if required.”

The important part of the conversation revealed by ESPNcricinfo in June, took place just days before South Africa’s World Cup squad was going to be picked.

Meanwhile, de Villiers’ RCB team-mates Yuvraj Singh (former) and Virat Kohli showed support to him and replied with an emotional message on Instagram where de Villiers released the statement.

Yuvraj also wrote directly that it was never possible for South Africa to win this World Cup without him and it’s their loss that they didn’t take him in their squad.

“My dear friend and legend , your one of the nicest guys iv ever played cricket with an absolute gem of a person ! There was never a chance for s a in this World Cup to win without you ! It is your country’s loss no to have you in the squad not yours . The bigger the player more the criticism! We all know what a gentleman you are,” he said.
