Labuschagne excited to play in front of home crowd
South African-born Australian international cricketer Marnus Labuschagne expresses his excitement about playing first time in front of his home crowd and says that he’s eager to play against South Africa.
The first of three-match ODI series will take place on Saturday, February 29 at Paarl.
“I did grade one, two and three in Potchefstroom, so I played a touch of cricket there however clearly the remainder of my cricket has been in Australia,” he said.
“I’ve never played here at the top level, so it’s very exciting to play in front of my family. They’re all excited and it was pleasant to put in a few days with them. I went to an Afrikaans school until I was in grade three, so I’ve despite everything got a touch of Afrikaans drifting about.”
Labuschagne has been a regular part of Australia’s Test squad since the Ashes last year. The 25-year old Labuschagne also made his ODI debut against India this year in last month. He made 46 runs and 54 runs in the two ODIs he batted against India.
“India was crazy. I loved the pressure, the climate over yonder. It was an extraordinary chance to play. That job at No 4 is something I need to ensure I proceed to improve and make that a spot I can keep on being fruitful in,” Labuschagne included.
