Bangladesh defend 238 vs England in 2nd ODI
After a fifty from Mahmudullah Riyad and a cameo innings from Mashrafe Bin Mortaza helped Bangladesh post 238/8 on board in the second Rocket ODI against England in 50 overs. England are set a target of 239 runs in 50 overs to seal the series. [Watch also: মাহমুদুল্লাহর সাথে বাটলারের যুদ্ধ]
England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first this time. It was a shaky start for Bangladesh. The English bowlers kept the pressure creeping on the two openers Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes.
Chris Woakes and David Willey were containing the runs. Woakes dismissed both Imrul and Tamim. Imrul scored 11 while Tamim made 14. Soon, Sabbir Rahman (3) was dismissed too. Bangladesh were 39/3 in 13.2 overs.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad put on valuable 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Mushfiqur was looking good, but he gave his wicket away. He scored 21 off 23 balls with 3 fours. Shakib Al Hasan could not last too long as he left for 3 runs.
Mahmudullah brought up his 16th ODI fifty in 51 balls with 4 fours. He played a sensible knock of 75 off 88 deliveries hitting 6 fours. He and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat added 48 runs for the sixth wicket. Mosaddek made 29 off 49 balls with 4 fours.
Nasir Hossain, who came back into the side a very crucial partnership of 69 runs with captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza for the eighth wicket. Mashrafe hammered 44 off 29 balls hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Nasir made unbeaten run-a-ball 27 with 2 fours.
Bangladesh made 238 for 8 in 50 overs. Adil Rashid, Chris Woakes and Jake Ball took 2 wickets each.
