The senior member of the Bangladesh side has also expressed his satisfaction after hitting a half century in the first intra-squad practice match against Tamim XI on Thursday (January 14).

Chasing a paltry target of 162 set by Tamim XI, Mahmudullah smacked an unbeaten 51 off 64 balls to help his side Mahmudullah XI clinch a comprehensive five-wicket victory.

“Overall our practice has been good enough,” said Mahmudullah after the match. “Bowlers from both side have done pretty well. There was some movement in the wicket early on. Our bowlers bowled in the right area. We were lucky to have taken some early wickets. That’s why they (Tamim XI) were under some pressure.”

He also added, “The wicket became easier for batting in the second half. So, in all, I think we have got some good match practice. It was a bowlers’ day. They did really well.”

Mahmudullah also talked about his own batting performance, as well as the unfortunate run out of Shakib Al Hasan. He hoped Bangladesh will topple the Caribbeans quite comfortably.

“(My) batting… Alhamdulillah… I have spent some good time in the middle. I felt good. Shakib was quite misfortunate to get run out. The ball touched the non-strike batsman and then reached to the bowler. Otherwise there could be a run.

“My preparation is Alhamdulillah good. We are very positive on this. I hope we will play good cricket, and win the series, Insha Allah,” concluded Mahmudullah.
