Mahmudullah joins 2000 Test runs club

The stand-in captain Mahmudullah Riyad has delivered with the bat in his very first match as captain. Due to lack of support from the other end, Mahmudullah missed his first Test hundred as captain.

He stayed at the crease till the end and finished with unbeaten 83 which helped Bangladesh to post a mammoth score of 513 runs.

Though, Mahmudullah couldn’t score hundred but he achieved a milestone on day 2 of the first Test match. He became the 7th Bangladeshi batsman to score 2000 Test runs. In the 126th over, Mahmudullah joined the 2000 runs club when he smacked a four against Sandakan.

But the fastest to reach to 2000 runs is Mominul Haque who just played an amazing knock of 176 runs in this Test match. It took only 47 innings for Mominul to score 2000 runs. After Mominul, it is Tamim Iqbal who is the 2nd fastest and he need 53 innings. The third one is Shakib Al Hasan and former captain Habibul Bashar. They both needed 58 innings.

On the other hand, former Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim needed the same amount of time as the stand-in captain Mahmudullah. They both needed 67 innings and the 8th batsman is Mohammad Ashraful who needed 91 innings.
