Malan not to join as Raina’s replacement says CSK CEO
There was rumours about joining of Dawid Malan as the replacement of Suresh Raina in Chennai Super Kings(CSK). CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has slammed these media reports and termed them as rubbish as he explained their foreign players quota is already filled up.
CSK’s veteran batsman Suresh Raina pulled out his name out of IPL 20 due to personal reason. With Malan was impressing in England’s T20I side it was almost inevitable that his name would be mentioned as the replacement of Raina. But with the passage of time it proved wrong. Because Malan cannot join the Super Kings squad as they already have eight foreign players in their list.
“This is news to me as well because our quota of foreign players is already full. So I don’t know how we can have another foreigner in the squad,” Viswanathan told ANI when asked to comment on the rumours.
CSK is having hard times as they are facing some issues regarding players pulling out from IPL and active Coronavirus cases in the camp. Deepak Chahar was the first man to contract with Covid-19. Recently, Deepak Chahar, has been given clearance to start training after twice testing negative for the virus.
“Deepak has all the necessary clearance from the CSK and BCCI side and will start training from today,” Viswanathan confirmed on Friday 11 September.
