Mashrafe hopes to back in Test cricket

Persistent injury forced Mashrafe Bin Mortaza to leave the longer version field long ago but he has been consistent in first class cricket for last several years. In a recent interview with country’s one of the leading dailies, Bangladesh limited over captain said he still have high wishes to return in Test cricket.

“With the level of fitness, I still have two more years to play Test cricket. But the trouble is that I will have to find a way to perform. It’s not only a matter of new ball in Test cricket. In one day cricket, batsmen will attack a bowler under any circumstances. But in Test, a bowler has to find a way to perform,” Mashrafe said.

Mashrafe urged to keep confidence upon bowlers in the team; saying, “I think the bowlers deserve some more confidence. It’s not appropriate to be dropped next after not being able to perform in one series. The management will have to keep trust upon anyone as new performers aren’t offering more that current bowlers in the team.”

“Young bowlers have to be prepared for the national team from domestic level. I believe, if properly taken care of, rising performers could prepare themselves in High Performance Unit or A team. And also it is necessary to examine their own wishes – whether they want the glamor of shorter format cricket or want to play Test cricket. This is a major cause in our country for not finding a fair amount of Test cricketers,” Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said.
