Mashrafe reveals how he succeeds against Andre Russell
During a live session between Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal and former captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mashrafe has revealed how he successfully bowled against Caribbean batting monster Andre Russell.
While playing the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) addition, Andre Russell got out couple of times by Mashrafe. Russell destroyed other bowlers by hitting big strokes and drives but it was Mashrafe whom he failed to score big shots rater got out by him.
While the live session, Tamim asked about this success secret. The Bangladesh captain asked, “We all know Andre Russell is a big hitter, but why can’t he play well against you? Can’t he differentiate between your slower ball or quicker ball?”
Mashrafe laughed and answered quite interestingly. He said that Russell has a problem in his perception. That’s why he fails to play his deliveries. Mashrafe revealed with a story. He said,
“Once Russell got out by me and asked me later why can’t I play your deliveries. I told him you have problem in perception. You need to moreclever in guessing. You should prepare to face my slowest ball at 117km/hr and quickest delivery at 120km/hr.”
Mashrafe further said to Russell, “You shouldn’t hope to see my slower delivery at 105 km/hr and quickest at 130 km/hr. That’s why you fail to play the deliveries.”
