Chattogram Challengers scored 125 runs in the first match of the eighth edition of Bangladesh Premier League. Chattogram captain Mehedy Hasan Miraz blames his team's batsmen for this. According to him, if you bat responsibly, it is possible to score more than 150 runs on this pitch.
Miraz blames batting failure for defeat
Chittagong won the toss and elected to bat first in the first match of BPL 2022. Chattogram's batsmen were struggling to handle the spinners of Fortune Barishal. They scored only 125 runs in the allotted 20 overs. According to the port city team captain Miraz, it is a very low total.
He said, “It is very difficult to win this wicket with so few runs. 125 runs in T20 actually becomes very difficult. Benny Howell has batted very well. We were able to fight because he scored those runs. Otherwise, there would not have been such a fight. ”
Miraz sees no alternative but to gather more runs for the batsmen to win the match. According to him, in the first match, Chattogram were 20-25 runs short and if batted responsibly, more than 150 runs were possible.
Miraz said, "We have to score run. If you score more runs in T20, the task becomes easier for the bowlers. It would have been better if we had scored at least 150-160 runs. We were 20-25 runs short. It didn't happen that way as the wickets fell initially.
"I saw the first match, I understood how to do. Foreigners are also watching. The sooner we can adapt, the better for us. "
The skipper did not comment negatively on the wicket. They have taken all the responsibility on their own batsmen. However, it is clear that this simple confession of Miraz is not wrong. Their batsmen did shown their dominance. Chattogram's foreign batsman Benny Howell also played a stormy innings. He made 41 off 20 balls with three fours and sixes.
Regarding the wicket, Miraz said, “The wicket was good. Getting a little more spin. But it was good. But we batsmen made a mistake. It would have been nice if the batsmen had played with a little more responsibility. You can bat better if you play with moderate responsibility."
"If 150 runs had been scored, the game would have been fifty-fifty, and those who played extra-ordinary would have won.
He said, "It's just the first match confident of turning around. There are still plenty of opportunities to turn around. We will discuss our lackings. There are many matches ahead. If we can learn from our mistakes in this match, we will be able to do better in the next match."
