In the last 9 innings, Mominul Haque didn’t reach double-digit score once. He resigned from the captaincy to regain the rhythm of batting. However, Mominul’s failure in batting continues- whether it is a practice match or the Antigua Test.
Mominul's off-form is one of the biggest reasons for the failure of the batting order. Many are therefore advising Mominul to rest or take a break for a few days. This time Test captain Shakib Al Hasan has opened his mouth about this.
Shakib said Mominul can take rest if he wants. However, during a series, he also made it clear that he is not in favor of rest. The break before the start of the second Test could also give Mominul a chance to sharpen himself, Shakib thinks.
"It's difficult for me to say," he said. “I talk to him all the time, will talk again. If he thinks yes, he needs rest, he can. But right now it's not a good idea to make a decision or think about something right after a match. There is rest for the next two-three days. Then when we practice in St. Lucia, maybe that day we can think of something better for our team.”
Most of the batsmen of Bangladesh’s batting order are in off form. However, Shakib hopes that the team will be able to get out of the run drought very soon.
"The more you change, the better, and you can't guarantee that. We seem to have lost four wickets or five wickets below 100 runs in 13-14 innings. We have a lot of problems in this place. It is possible for all of us to get out of this place with responsibility, I believe. We've been to this place before and come out,” Shakib added.
