Mominul ends away Test ton drought, Shanto makes 150
Bangladesh have added more 76 runs to their total after the first day and ended the first session of the second at 378/2.
Najmul Hasan Shanto and Mominul Haque are still at the crease and posted a partnership of 226-run till now. This is Bangladesh’s second-highest partnership for the third wicket in Tests. The highest is also against Sri Lanka.
Shanto slammed his first 150+ scored in Tests in the session. He is only the second Bangladesh batsman to cross 150 in his maiden Test hundred. His current batting partner Mominul is the other. He made 181 when he scored his maiden hundred.
Captain Mominul also brought up his hundred. It’s his first away hundred and his 11th overall in Tests.
Bangladesh go into lunch on 378 for 2 in 118 overs. Shanto has struck 16 boundaries and 1 over-boundary in his unbeaten 1360-ball 55 runs. Mominul is on 107* from 246 with 9 fours.
Earlier, Bangladesh ended the first day at 302/2. Tamim Iqbal made 90 runs off just 101 balls that included 15 boundaries all around the ground.
