Mosaddek surpasses late Manjarul’s record
Manjarul Islam Rana – the name of a termless grief in Bangladesh cricket; the young talent who lost his life in a very early age of 23 was a potential star all-rounder, death separated him from all the materialism on earth after playing 6 Tests and 25 one day international matches for Bangladesh. 16th March was his tenth death anniversary.
Just a day after, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, the rookie at P Sara Oval rifted one of Manjarul Rana’s records. Saikat eclipsed Rana to become the highest scorer batting at number eight as a debutant. Rana scored 35 runs against Zimbabwe in his inaugural Test match back in 2004. Till to date it was the highest in the particular position.
On Friday, 21 year old Mosaddek Hossain made 75 off 155 striking 7 fours and 2 sixes. Mosaddek paired with Shakib for 131 runs and then added another 33 with Mehedi Hasan Miraz in the eight wicket.
Mosaddek Hossain Saikat has made a place in the national team after proving his ability in the domestic leagues where he possesses three double hundreds. Along with that Mosaddek scored 7 first class hundred and 8 half centuries. His highest score is 282 runs.
