MS Dhoni reacts after CSK advances to the IPL final

CSK scripted yet another history by advancing to the finals after beating Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in qualifier 2 at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. MS Dhoni is extremely pleased that his boys worked beyond the call of duty to make it to the finals.

“It’s the usual route, last year was an exception (to get to the IPL final through the eliminator and second qualifier). The kind of response the boys gave was brilliant. You’ll go for runs, miss a few catches, but it’s important to come back strong. The way we batted to chase down 140+ was really nice,” Dhoni said at the post-match presentation.

Talking about the team’s bowling effort that went according to the plan, MS Dhoni said, “The bowling effort was brilliant, and we kept it in the right areas, not allowing Delhi to get a big score. It’s important to get their openers out – their batting line-up is really strong and they have many left-handers and we have a left-arm spinner to negate them.

The ground is a little small, so it is important for them to keep getting wickets. The timing of the wickets was very important because it was difficult for new batsmen to come and hit the big shots straightaway.”

El-classico final will be interesting

The defending champions will take on Mumbai Indians on May 12 (Sunday) at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad and it is going to be one heck of an El-Classico. Well, Mumbai Indians have got a better head to head record against CSK since the inception of IPL and have won all three games that they faced against CSK this season.

The final fixture will be awesome and it will be quite interesting to see which team gets the better of the other. The team that wins the title will have more titles (4) than any other team in the history of IPL.

Can CSK defend their title by surprising Mumbai Indians? or will Mumbai Indians create history?
