Mumbai Indians will beat Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020 opener, says Gautam Gambhir

The defending champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) would look to defend the title in IPL 2020. Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise in the history of IPL as they won four IPL trophies which is most by any team. Chennai Super Kings are just behind them as they have won three tournaments under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

The two successful teams in the history of IPL will face each other in the opener of the IPL 2020. The former Indian cricketer and KKR skipper, Gautam Gambhir predicts that Mumbai Indians will beat the Chennai Super Kings due to the balance in MI squad. The CSK franchise has already lost their key players in the form of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh.

“I feel the Mumbai Indians have the upper hand if you see the balance and depth of the squad,” Gautam Gambhir said.

Gambhir reveals his view to be T20 coach

“They have also added Trent Boult to their squad, who will give them a very good option. Because you want a bowler who can give you wickets with the new ball so that you can use Jasprit Bumrah in a different manner,” he continued.

“So I will want to watch how these two perform, not only in the first match but in the entire tournament,” Gambhir concluded.

The upcoming season of the cash-rich T20 league will be played in UAE due to the pandemic coronavirus. The tournament to be played at three venues – Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. After VIVO pulled out of the tournament, Dream11 is the new sponsor of the tournament.
