Mushfiqur congratulates young Tigers for reaching finals of U19 World Cup
Akbar Ali-led current Bangladesh U19 team is considered to be the greatest youth cricket team in the history of Bangladesh. Juniors are at the peak of the form. For the first time ever, Bangladesh have advanced to the ICC Under-19 World Cup final and they are unbeaten in the entire tournament.
They beat New Zealand Under 19s by 6 wickets in the semi-final match on Thursday, February 6. Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 100 runs off 127 balls. Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim congratulated the junior for their outstanding performance in the semi-final.
Posting a video of Joy’s century, Mushfiqur wrote, “Alhamdulillah, Ma shaa Allah. Congratulations brother. Keep calm and one more big step to go young tigers….come on Bangladesh.”
Akbar Ali-lead team picked up the win with 36 balls and 6 wickets in hand in reply of New Zealand’s target of 212. After losing the toss, the Kiwis scored 211 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the destined 50 overs.
Bangladesh had never played a final in the Under-19 World Cup before. They felt the taste of playing at the Youth World Cup semis for the first time four years ago at home.
After winning the match, captain Akbar Ali and Mahmudul Hasan had been greeted by Mushfiqur Rahim in two different posts on social media.
