There may be thousands of doubters about Mushfiqur Rahim’s wicketkeeping ability. But it indeed is a fact that he is till date Bangladesh’s most successful man behind the stumps, at least that’s what numbers say.
And now on Bangladesh’s historic 100th Test, Mushfiqur has scored the century of dismissals in Test cricket — that too, quite naturally as the first Bangladeshi.
Mushfiqur had entered the second innings of Colombo Test on Friday afternoon with 97 dismissals to his name. And by effecting the caught wicket of Dickwella through his gloves off the delivery of Shakib, he reached his hundred. Then he effected yet another dismissal later on, and by the time of writing this report, Mushfiqur was standing on 101 dismissals.
Of Mushfiqur’s 101 dismissals, 89 are catches and the remaining 12 are stumpings. This is also the fifth time Mushfiqur has been part of four or more dismissals in an innings. Khaled Mashud Pilot is the second on the list of highest dismissals as Bangladeshi wicketkeeper with 87 dismissals to his armour.
