Mushfiqur wants less mistakes in next match
Mushfiqur Rahim-led Beximco Dhaka faced Minister Group Rajshahi in the opening match of Bangabandhu T20 Cup yesterday (November 24). And they started with a defeat by 2 runs.
Captain Mushfiqur fought alone for his team. But even then, his team lost the match despite his well fought 41 runs off 34 balls. However, the wicket-keeper batsman wanted to correct all the mistakes in the next match against Gazi Group Chattogram.
“Look, it’s very difficult to judge in the first match of the tournament. I think the beginning has been very good. As far as the batsmen are concerned, it is very difficult to win a match by scoring 30-40 runs in T20,” Mushfiqur said.
Besides Mushfiqur, Naim Sheikh (26) and Akbar Ali (34) got off to a good start. However, no one was able to make the innings bigger.
“We, who were set at that moment, if anyone could able to play a 60-70 runs innings, then the match would have been in our hands. But I’m really happy that everyone got off to a good start. It’s a good sign that everyone is in good touch. I hope those who are in touch will play a big innings in the next match,” the 33-year old right-handed batsman said.
Dhaka’s bowlers started well but they couldn’t finish it off at the end of the innings. What were the reasons behind this? Mushfiqur replied, “If you say about the bowlers, the execution was a bit cluttered. I think it was because of the nerve or confidence in the first match. That can be for any team. We will try not to make mistakes in the next match.”
“Momentum is very important. We need to make sure that we make less mistakes in the next match. We can win the match only if the processes are fixed. In the T20 format, if two or three players do well, they day will come good surely. We will try to do well in the next match,” Mushfiqur concluded.
