Mushtaq joins Windies as assistant coach

Former Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed is set to join Windies Cricket as their assistant coach where he will need him to commit 150 days in a year.

Mushtaq was about to join the team from the India series, but due to visa issues, the former leg-spinner couldn’t make it in time. However, he will join the side soon and his first assignment will be West Indies’ upcoming tour of Bangladesh. Windies will tour Bangladesh on November to play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.

The former Pakistan bowler’s  contract with the NCA was renewed for a year in April after weeks of uncertainty. At the time, he was also contemplating offers from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and West Indies. But he decided to stay back to put himself in the fray to become Pakistan’s spin bowling coach.

However, he signed a month-long contract as spin consultant with Windies cricket before rejoining the NCA.

Mushtaq previously  worked with England and also worked as Pakistan’s bowling coach before Azhar Mahmood replaced him. After that, he’s been an integral part of the NCA.
