Mustafiz: I prefer playing for country than the IPL
Veteran Bangladesh paceman Mustafizur Rahman has revealed that to play for the country than the prestigious Indian premier League is more honoured to him. He prefers to play for the Bangladesh team rather than the alluring Indian Premier League (IPL). The paceman received offers to play in the IPL from two franchise but as the board didn’t issued No Objection Certificate, the pacer couldn’t fly to play IPL.
The cash rich IPL is going to be held in Dubai amidst the panic of Covid-19. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) did not agreed to issue the NOC as Bangladesh is having a Test tour in Sri Lanka. Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan said ,
“The IPL schedule coincidentally coincided with the Bangladesh team’s tour of Sri Lanka.”
Bangladesh is scheduled to play a three-match Test series against the homeside Sri Lanka as part of ICC Test Championship. Although Mustafiz has not been a regular face in Test, but the team management is planning something else with the young sensation.
However, the speedster has said that he has no regrets about not having NOC as he always prefers playing for the country than any franchise league.
“The IPL is not big deal than my country. So I have no problem with not having clearance letter from the board. I have no regrets about it,” Mustafiz said.
“I told them to contact the BCB. Because I know coincidentally IPL is going to be held during the tour of Sri Lanka. The tour of Sri Lanka is more important to me at the moment.”
Mustafizur is enjoying his birthday wishes from the fans and his fellow sportsman. He expressed gratitude for the love and appreciation while talking with the media.
“I am fascinated by the love of cricketers, friends and fans,” he said.
