Nasir, Likhon regarded as unfit

The conditioning camp of national cricket team has begun with the fitness sessions of cricketers. Iftikharul Islam said, “It cannot be said that the fitness level of Jubair Hossain is bad but the trouble is he cannot hold his fitness. He tends to work on his fitness only in the camp and takes no initiative outside to keep it up. He has lack of seriousness to act on it. I think he should give proper attention to maintain his fitness in and outside the camp.”

Beside that the trainers also seemed quite unimpressed with the fitness of another national team star Nasir Hossain. The trainer said, “Nasir is keeping a good fitness condition but not like previous times. I hope he could enhance his fitness through the current training sessions.”

28 cricketers have joined in the training camp except Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman who are engaged with playing in the leagues outside the country. Shakib Al Hasan is in the Caribbean participating in the Caribbean Premier League while Mustafizur Rahman is staying in England appearing in his first ever English county stint.

Quite surprisingly three senior cricketers Shahriar Nafees, Suhrawardi Shuvo and Raqibul Hasan have been called in the training camp and making good progress so far in regard of their fitness.

According to the trainer, the best fitness level is carried by Bangladesh limited over skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, experienced batsmen Mahmudullah Riyad, Mushfiqur Rahim and young gun Sabbir Ahmed Rummon.
