No Dhoni in Duminy’s nine overseas players’ all-time IPL XI
Former South Africa all-rounder JP Duminy reveals his list of best IPL XI in the history of the game. But he doesn’t follow the conventional rule of four foreign players and seven Indian players. Rather he picks nine overseas players in his Indian Premier League (IPL) team.
With no surprise, Duminy picked West Indies T20 legend as well as IPL legend Chris Gayle as an opener of the team. Gayle had been dominating IPL since the beginning as most of his domination came in Royal Challenger’s Bangalore jersey where he posted the record of highest individual score (175*) in any T20 cricket history.
But after that the surprise started in Duminy’s team. He selected Australia’s legendary wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist as Gayle’s partner. Gilchrist played a big role in winning the title for Deccan Chargers in IPL 2009 season. He was also the captain of the team then.
Then Duminy picket IPL’s one of the most successful player as well as captain Rohit Sharma for the no. 3 slot. But he didn’t give the captaincy role to him as he gave the responsibility to Virat Kohli, IPL’s highest run scorer. It’s worth mentioning that Kohli didn’t win any IPL title till now.
Kohli’s teammate AB de Villiers was picked for the next spot. De Villiers made himself the legend of IPL with his dominating performance specially with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kohli-Villiers duo had been treat to watch in IPL.
For the next two spot, two West Indies destructive all-rounders Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell were selected by Duminy. Pollard and Russell had been the match winner for Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in many matches till now.
Australia’s Brett Lee and T20 legend Lasith Malinga occupied the pace-bowling of the team. And for the spinning option, Duminy picked Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan and South Africa’s leg-spinner Imran Tahir.
However, it came as a surprise that Duminy didn’t pick the two IPL legends, Chennai Super King’s Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni in his all-time IPL XI.
JP Duminy’s all-time IPL XI:
Chris Gayle, Adam Gilchrist, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers (wk), Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Brett Lee, Muttiah Muralitharan, Lasith Malinga and Imran Tahir.
