Nortje tested positive for COVID-19

South Africa and Delhi Capitals right-arm fast bowler Anrich Nortje tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of his IPL 2021 campaign.

This year’s edition of the Indian Premier League has successfully kickstarted on April 9th. The tournament is back home after the last season was played in the United Arab Emirates due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

There had been some dramas before the start of the tournament as there were some COVID-19 cases found across multiple franchises. It looks like the drama is still continuing as one more COVID-19 positive case is found around the league.

South African right-arm fast bowler Anrich Nortje is the latest victim of the viral infection. The fast bowler is representing Delhi Capitals and currently, he is undergoing mandatory quarantine before joining his team. Nortje has been tested positive with the coronavirus in the last COVID-19 test before winding up his quarantine.

It is said that Nortje was tested negative at the time of his arrival to India and he is infected during his quarantine time. The fast bowler is the second positive case in the Delhi Capitals camp following Axar Patel. Anrich Nortje along with Kagiso Rabada missed the season opener against Chennai Super Kings due to the mandatory quarantine.

The fast bowler will continue his quarantine until he recovers from the viral infection. Apart from the couple of players from Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians’ scout and wicketkeeping consultant Kiran More, RCB’s Daniel Sams and Devdutt Paddikal were also tested positive for the virus around the league.
