O’Keefe to be dropped for final Test against India?

Australia’s Pune Test hero Steve O’Keefe is under the scratchboard to be sidelined in the fourth and final Test against India in Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium for Dharamsala wicket has traditionally been a seamer friendly track. Fast bowler Jackson Bird is to be replaced in place of O’Keefe. The series decider between India and Australia is scheduled to start on Saturday.

Steve O’Keefe claimed 12 wickets in Pune Test but could be termed as rather unsuccessful in the third Test at Ranchi where batsmen dominated the scenario to end the match in a draw. Now ahead of the final match, Steve Smith is opted to replace O’Keefe by pacer Jackson Bird who is known to execute good bounce from pitch.

But former Australia skipper Steve Waugh urged against making any changes in the team for the series decider. Waugh has called the selectors to back the XI that held for a fighting draw in the third Test match. “I really admired the way the side fought hard in that last Test match. I thought they were very impressive the way they came out of it surviving on that last day. They will take a lot of confidence from that.”

Steve Waugh also reckoned that it is India who would be under pressure as they were expected to win the series.
