Pakistan desperate to host Asia Emerging Nations Cup 2018

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said they are ready to host Asia Emerging Nations Cup in coming April despite strong resistance from India and Bangladesh.

A PCB official, on Friday said, “Pakistan was given hosting rights when the ACC meeting was held in Lahore on October 29 and India and Bangladesh representatives were not present in that meeting.”

“We will do everything in our power to ensure that we do host the Asian Emerging Nations Cup,” the official said.

The main objection raised by India is that in current political scenario India can’t send its team to play anywhere in Pakistan and it should have been consulted before deciding the venue,” he said.

Newly appointed PCB chief Najam Sethi made the announcement of Pakistan hosting the Asia Emerging Nations Cup 2018 when Sri Lanka visited Lahore to play T20I.

PCB and BCCI has been going through bargaining periods after the Pakistan board sought a compensation of around USD 60 million from BCCI for not honoring MoU.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding the two arch rivals were supposed to meet for six bilateral series in between the period of 2015 to 2023.
