Pakistan minister blames India for ten Sri Lankan players’ refusal to play in Pakistan

Pakistan minister Fawad Hussain blames India after ten Sri Lankan players refused to travel to Pakistan for a proposed bilateral series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Pakistan are putting maximum efforts to get back regular cricket to Pakistan for a long period of ten years after the terrorist attack on Sri Lankan players during their tour to Pakistan in 2009. Since then, International cricket in Pakistan has become a rare scene.

Pakistan were able to see some developments in the process in last 3 years as there were some sort of International cricket in Pakistan in the forms of PSL, World XI game and the small tours made by Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

Again Sri Lanka and Pakistan are in a talk to conduct a bilateral series in Pakistan later this year. But there are lot of negative signs in the Lankan side as some senior players like Angelo Mathews, Lasith Malinga have opted themselves out of the tour. Nearly ten players have reported to the board about their unavailability to the tour. This has raised a serious concern for not just the Pakistan Cricket Board but also for the country’s politics.

Pakistan minister Fawad Hussain blamed India for the decision made by the Sri Lankan players as he believes that India threatened the Lankan players to skip the tour relating with the IPL contracts of those players.

“Informed sports commentators told me that India threatened SL players that they’ll be ousted from IPL if they don’t refuse Pak visit, this is a really cheap tactic, jingoism from sports to space is something we must condemn, really cheap on the part of Indian sports authorities,” He quoted on his official Twitter handle.

There is no need to tell the political clash between India and Pakistan which is a main reason for the loss of India vs Pakistan bilateral series in International cricket. Recently the group fixture game between two countries in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 was also in such a danger.
