During the Test series, India introduced a new system of announcing shortlisted names of 12 players ahead of the matches. The hosts are continuing the new system in the ODI series.

Ahead of the first ODI in Guwahati on Sunday (October 21), BCCI has released the names of 12 players who are shortlisted for the game. The list confims the re-entry of Virat Kohli as the captain of the team following the Asia Cup.

Ambati Rayudu, who had some good times in United Arab Emirates is likely to get the most talked no.4 spot in the Indian line-up. With Ambati Rayudu on the verge of getting a regular spot, Rishab Pant’s name is also included in the list.

It means that the left handed batsman is likely to make his ODI debut following somw good rhythms in white clothes. In the bowling list Khaleel Ahmed finds his name in the list but his spot in the playing XI is not sure.

Umesh Yadav returns to the ODI side after being dropped for the Asia Cup. With five pure bowlers, five pure batsmen and one all-rounder in the list, it will be a hard thing to predict the combination of Virat Kohli. Most possible thing might be having a batsman in the bench.
