Both Shaheen Shah Afridi and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to play key roles for Pakistan and India respectively at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.

Australian legend Ricky Ponting poked fun at himself in the latest episode of The ICC Review for making some brave decisions and deciding who to pick in some of the toughest head-to-head clashes between some of the biggest names in T20I cricket.
Ponting - in his role as a respected commentator and top-flight coach - watches as much T20 cricket as anyone in the world and keeps an eye on some of the most talented players around the world.
Ponting said Shaheen and Bumrah have taken the lead in all forms of international cricket. However, Ponting chose Bumrah over Shaheen because of his experience, particularly on Australian soil.
"Look, how do you separate these two guys? They are two of the best performing bowlers in the world in recent years across all formats of the game,” Ponting was quoted as saying while hosting Sanjana Ganesan on The ICC Review.

Ponting mentioned that picking either pacemaker was difficult and praised both bowlers for their performances in all formats over the past two years. He added that he would have relied on Jasprit Bumrah's experience and that the speedster has competed in more major tournaments than Afridi to thrive in Australian conditions.

"I'll probably go for experience alone - I'll go for Bumrah. He's played quite a bit of cricket in Australia now, played more in Australia than Afridi and also played more major tournaments than Afridi," he added. When selecting the better hitter between Jos Buttler and Babar Azam in the T20I format, Ponting chose Buttler because he was the more "dynamic".
“Babar Azam, he's technically a better player than Buttler. However, if you look at their hit rates there is no comparison, Buttler is much more dynamic, kind of a 360 player than Babar," Ponting further noted.
