PSL 2020: Amla joins Peshawar Zalmi as ‘batting mentor’
Hashim Amla has been an important part of South African cricket history. Amla, who called it quits from international cricket earlier last year has represented South Africa in 124 Tests (9282 runs), 181 ODIs (8113 runs) and 44 T20Is (1277 runs).
In fact, he had also registered as platinum category player before the PSL players draft but unfortunately, he went unpicked in the category.
Now, he is all set to start new innings in his career as a batting mentor for the upcoming Pakistan Super League 2020. Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi’s owner Javed Afridi had announced that Hashim Amla will be the team’s batting mentor for the upcoming edition.
Javed Afridi added that Amla’s presence in the league would be a sheer essence to the side but would also motivate the bright prospects in the squad. Amla’s rich experience would certainly be a big boost for the franchise.
“Hashim Amla is a legendary batsman and a big name; his presence will bring value to our squad,” said Afridi.
Meanwhile, Zalmi head coach Mohammad Akram said South African great’s inclusion would also help young cricketers to enhance their skill for the upcoming league.
“With the presence of Amla, our young cricketers will have a chance to learn a lot,” said Wasim Akram.
