Raina opens up on pulling out of IPL 2020

Former Indian left-handed batsman and Chennai Super Kings player Suresh Raina finally opened up on quitting IPL 2020, after arriving in the UAE.

Raina likely to join CSK camp soon

Chennai Super Kings had a poor IPL season in the United Arab Emirates, a couple of months back. For the first time, the franchise failed to qualify for playoffs in the history of the T20 league. Apart from that, there had been few controversies around the team throughout the tournament.

The major one was the exit of their iconic player Suresh Raina from this year’s edition of the league. He cited the personal reasons to leave back for India from UAE. But later it was known that there was a rift between the player and team management, before the tournament. Even the owner, N Srinivasan was also a bit harsh on the player in some interviews.

Finally, the southpaw batsman himself opened up about the incidents that happened at that time. The former Indian cricketer said that he didn’t have any regret on pulling out of the tournament, since his family needed him badly at that toughest time.

“Why would there be any regret. I spent time with my kids and was there for my family. I really wanted to come back to my family. There was an incident in Punjab and they needed me (his uncle and cousins in Pathankot were murdered during a robbery),” Raina said in an interview.

“My wife needed me here, too, during the pandemic. I have been playing for 20 years so I know I will do it again. But when your family needs you, you have to be there. I felt that was the wise thing to do at that time,” the southpaw batsman added.

Anyhow, recently an official from Chennai Super Kings revealed that the franchise is not gonna part with their iconic player. It means Suresh Raina has all the chances to appear in the yellow jersey back.
