Rashid becomes new no.1 all-rounder
Afghanistan leg spinner Rashid Khan becomes the new no.1 all-rounder in the ICC ODI Rankings revealed by ICC on 30th September following the 14th edition of Asia Cup.
On Sunday, 30th September International Cricket Council (ICC) has released new ICC ODI Rankings after the finish of Asia Cup in United Arab Emirates. Afghanistan’s leg spinner Rashid Khan becomes the highlighted news as he gains no.1 spot in the list for all-rounders.
Rashid stole the show with ten wickets from five games at an average of 17.20 in addition to the 87 runs he scored at an average of 43.50, which included a match-winning unbeaten 57 against Bangladesh. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib has slipped to second spot after early exit from Asia Cup.
Rashid Khan has climbed six spots to reach the top position. The leg spinner becomes the first cricketer to feature in the first place of any ICC Rankings. His team mate Mohammad Nabi takes third position in that list.
On the chart for batsmen, both the Indian openers have shown progression in the list. Rohit Sharma takes 2nd position right behind to his captain Virat Kohli after scoring 317 runs at an average of 105.66 in Asia Cup 2018.
His opening partner Shikhar Dhawan takes fifth position after being awarded as the man of the series in Asia Cup 2018 for scoring 342 runs. In the new rankings for the batsmen, Indian top three are dominating in top five positions of the list.
In the bowler’s rankings, Kuldeep Yadav ten wickets from six games helped him reach a career-best 700 points. The chinaman bowler occupies third position while their lead fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah retains his top position. Afghanistan’s leg spinner Rashid Khan sits inbetween two Indian players at no.2 position.
