Rayudu reported for suspect bowling action
India’s Ambati Rayudu has been reported for a suspect bowling action after bowling in the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
Rayudu, who rarely bowls has been reported for suspect bowling action and he will now be required to undergo testing within 14 days but is permitted to bowl in international cricket until the results of the tests are out.
The part-time off-spinner bowled two overs on Saturday and conceded 13 runs. He conceded only three runs in the first over, but was taken off when Usman Khawaja hit him for two boundaries in the next.
Rayudu’s bowling being under the scanner comes as a huge blow for India as they have struggled to get a few overs in from their top six. There was a time when Yuvraj Singh or Suresh Raina was in the team and they used to bowl more than 5 overs.
If Rayudu gets suspended then it will mean that none of their top-six can bowl, presenting further headaches for the Indian captain Virat Kohli.
India also stopped their game plan of playing two leg-spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzuvendra Chahal together. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja plays in place of Chahal and things have turned more complicated for the men in blue after the suspension of all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
