Razzak on brink of 500 first class wickets
Discarded national team spinner Abdur Razzak has been continuing the fare spectacle of his magic arm in domestic cricket. In the ongoing round of the Bangladesh Cricket League, the 35 year old spinner registered yet another five wicket haul in first class cricket despite prolific run scoring of the opposition team. While Islami Bank East Zone mounted runs on the board, capitalizing an incredible double hundred by Mominul Haque, Abdur Razzak bagged his 29th fifer in first class cricket, threw him on the edge of taking a substantial 500 wickets.
In 111 first class matches, Abdur Razzak has so far claimed 490 wickets. Besides making 29 five wicket hauls, Razzak also claimed eight 10 wicket hauls in his first class career.
Razzak had been tossed out of the national team just after the Caribbean tour in 2014. Since then he has been in shining form in domestic cricket but unfortunately failed to catch national selector’s eye.
Razzak was the highest wicket taker in the previous of the Bangladesh Cricket League as well where he took 38 wickets in 6 matches.
In reply to a massive first innings total of 546 runs scored by Islami Bank East Zone, South Zone has scored 128 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.
Abdur Razzak featured in 153 one day international matches for Bangladesh and captured 207 wickets. In Tests, Razzak took 23 wickets in 18 innings of 12 matches.
