Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq who announced his decision to step down as Pakistan chief selector is not parting ways with the national team set-up anytime soon. He has expressed his interest in taking another role in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

His remarks come after he said that he would no longer continue as a chief selector as his contract expires at the end of July

According to Inzamam-ul-Haq’s latest statement, it is quite clear that he is ready to take up any role in the PCB apart from selection role. So he is interested to occupy other positions if he is offered the chance.

“I am a cricketer, this is my bread and butter. If the board offers me another role, apart from selection, I would consider it,” Inzamam was quoted as saying by

Inzamam-ul-Haq has been one of the important pillars of Pakistan cricket history. He was admired by his fans as a player and as a captain. His experience will be a key factor in helping Pakistan and it would be quite interesting to see if PCB grants him a new role to him.

Earlier, the sources said that Inzamam-ul-Haq was willing to extend his contract for one more year but the PCB has decided to go for a new selection committee.

Former Test opener Mohsin Hasan Khan is in line to become the new chief selector as he had earlier worked in this position producing good results and has also worked as interim head coach of the team.

“Pakistan’s failure to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup has led to the decision to release Inzamam,” a source told news agency PTI.
