Rohit played brilliantly, Axar's 2 overs made the difference says Finch
Australia captain Aaron Finch praised his Indian counterpart Rohit Sharma for his 46-from-20 shot, hitting four boundaries and four sixes for a staggering 230 batting average.
And the Australia captain also appreciated the performance of left-arm spinner Axar Patel, who sacked two wickets for 13 runs in his quota of two overs in the eight overs a side played here at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
“Rohit was brilliant. And the two overs Axar bowled were probably the difference in the game," said Australian skipper Aaron Finch at the awards ceremony after the game.
Due to the wet outfield, the start of play was delayed and play was reduced to eight overs a side where Australia hit a massive 90/5 and Rohit Sharma's daring swing helped India chase them in just 7.2 overs.
They're probably planning 5 more games and adding a bit. When you do all your planning for the Worlds, keep them in mind,” said Finch.
Matthew Wade also batted brilliantly for Australia, going unbeaten on 43 balls from 20 which helped them accumulate a huge sum. Wade hit four limits and three sixes. In the first T20I at Mohali, he also played a brilliant knock of 45 not from just 21 balls.
“Wade is such a quiet customer at the bottom of the innings. He did a wonderful job for us. We're close," Finch said.
Rohit Sharma's knock meant India not only chased the huge target but also equalized the three-match series 1-1. Both teams have it all on Sunday in the third T20I in Hyderabad.
