Rohit Sharma to create world record in T20Is

Indian opener Rohit Sharma didn’t have the best of start in the 2nd T20I against South Africa in Mohali. He scored 2 sumptuous sixes but he failed to capitalise later on as he was dismissed for 12 runs.

Indian captain Virat Kohli who came out to bat was able to find some momentum and slowly perfected the art of constructing the innings with utmost perfection. He went on to score an unbeaten 72 to help India ace the run chase with an over to spare.

During Kohli’s innings, he surpassed Rohit Sharma’s tally to become the highest run-scorer in T20Is. However, Rohit is not too far away from creating a world record in T20Is.

He just needs 8 more runs to become the top run-scorer in the shortest form of the game. He will be looking forward to making the best use of the chance in the third and final T20I against South Africa which starts on September 22 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

The fight of T20I dominance between India captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma will continue on Sunday. There are more possibilities that Kohli’s reign could come to an end, with Rohit Sharma coming out to bat before him as an opener and all he needs just a couple of boundaries to make his mark in style.

Virat Kohli has 2,441 runs in T20I cricket whereas Rohit Sharma has 2,434 runs to his name. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan, who has scored 6,996 runs in T20 cricket is just 4 runs away from completing 7,000 runs in the shortest format.

If he achieves this feat on Sunday’s encounter, then he will become only the fourth Indian after the likes of Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, and Rohit Sharma to reach the landmark in T20s.
