Ronchi doesn’t know what went wrong for Chittagong
The fifth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has been a tournament to forget for the Chittagong Vikings who are at the bottom of the table.
Befote the start of the tournament, the fans of Chittagong already had a heartbreak as their local boy Tamim Iqbal joined Comilla Victorians. At the beginning, Misbah ul Haq led the side but due to his poor performance he was dropped and New Zealand cricketer Luke Ronchi was made the captain.
Ronchi was excellent with the bat throughtout the tournament but his side couldn’t deliver and as a result they were the first team to get knocked out from the tournament. Ronchi told in the press conference he himself don’t know what went wrong for his side.
He said: “After every defeat, I have to face the same question. If we wiuld have knew the answer, we would have change ourselves. But unfortunately after playing 11 matches, we still couldnt identity the reason behind our bad performance. We made big big mistakes and made ourselves fall into troubles.”
Though Chittagong Vikings couldn’t perform well with the bat in Dhaka leg, they were explosive at their home. When asked what might be the reason behind it, Ronchi said: “The wicket is competely different between the two venues. The Chittagong wicket is made of different soil and mud. In Dhaka wicket, the pitch has a lot of turn. Then again, the bowlers got wickets with such deliveries which didn’t turn at all. In case of that, batsmen gifted their wickets.”
