The 16 men Bangladesh squad except Rubel Hossain reached South Africa in two sections. They reached in Benoni on 17th of September and started practice straight away. Reports said pacer Rubel Hossain went to airport to leave Dhaka with Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman. Although rest of them left Dhaka that day, Rubel Hossain was sent back from airport.
Team manager cum chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu could not deliberate the trouble Rubel has had that day; later, BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury revealed Rubel did not receive all the necessary papers to fly for South Africa on that particular day.
BCB CEO said, “According to some new rules embedded by several countries, passengers need an ‘ok to board’ paper from the final destination. The concerned airlines brought the paper with boarding pass; for some unknown reason, Rubel did not receive the paper in hand on time.”
BCB officials informed that the board officers quickly made contact with Cricket South Africa after the incident but they are yet to receive any answer as weekly holidays are running in between them.
BCB CEO said, “We are waiting for NOC and will get him on board as soon as we would receive that.”
Bangladesh will play their first Test of the series from 28th of this month. Followed by the second Test starting from 6th of October.
