Following their series win against India in Centurion, South Africa is scratched a little after being fined for slow over rate.

Skipper Faf du Plessis has been fined for 20% of their match fees while rest of the team members has also been penalized for 20%.

The International Cricket Council release said, “Du Plessis pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.”

According to Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel relating to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time and the captain fined double that amount.

Any such occurrence in a Test match within 12 months under skipper Faf du Plessis will lead him to a suspension.

South Africa took an unassailable 2-0 lead having won the second Test match by 135 runs.

21 year old debutant Lungi Ngidi hurled a match winning figure of 6 for 39 in the second innings of India, made the touring batsmen crippling to end at 151 in the fifth and final day of the match.

Kagiso Rabada claimed 3 for 47 bowling 14 overs thus all the wickets of India were divided between these two.

Cheteshwar Pujara was run out, became the first Indian batsman to run out in both innings of a Test match.

The two teams will face each other in the third Test on January 24 at the Wanderers.
