SA Games: After women’s, Bangladesh secure gold in men’s cricket
Bangladesh men’s under-23 cricket has secured the gold medal in the 13th South Asian Games in Nepal through beating Sri Lanka by seven wickets.
At the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kathmandu on Monday, Bangladesh reached the target of 122 runs given by Sri Lanka after batting first with 11 balls to spare.
They lost 8 wickets in the process.
On Sunday, Bangladesh women’s cricket team bagged a gold medal in the event, beating Sri Lanka in a thrilling final by 2 runs.
Shammu Ashan added highest 25 runs for Sri Lanka whereas Pathum Nishanka contributed 22 runs.
For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud claimed 3 wickets while Tanveer Islam picked up 2 wickets. Besides that, Shumon Khan and Mehedi Hasan captured a single wicket each.
Soumya departed scoring 27 runs off 28 deliveries. After that Saif Hasan aggravated the batting. The hard-hitter added 33 runs facing 30 deliveries.
Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Yasir Ali tried to pave the way for win but Yasir had to went back to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs.
Afif Hossain Dhrubo ensured the victory with an unbeaten 5 runs. Nazmul Hossain was not out scoring 33 in 28 balls ensuring 7 wickets victory at the end.
