Bangladesh middle-order batsman Sabbir Rahman has been away from international cricket for a long time. But he’s working hard to make him come back to the national team again. However, there is a glimpse of returning him to the team. Sabbir, however, does not want to think too much about getting a chance in the national team.
The 30-year-old batsman was once considered the stalwart of the national team, but he lost his form and went out of the limelight. After playing superbly in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), he is again in the discussion. He has also been kept in mind for the upcoming Asia Cup squad as there are many injured players.
Only time will tell if Sabbir will get a chance in the Asia Cup or not. However, he is reluctant to think about the national team for now.
Sabbir said, “I don't know anything about this (playing in the Asia Cup). I saw the news. No official news has come to me. For now, I have the 'A' team game in front of me. This is where my focus will be. There are three ODIs in the West Indies. I’m going tomorrow, the main focus will be there.”
Many think that Sabbir's fearless batting can be effective in overcoming the fragile situation of Bangladesh in the T20s. Sabbir also agrees, he has come into consideration because he has proved himself.
“Everything is challenging. I’m out of the national team for the last three years. I was nowhere for a while. I performed well in DPL last year. I was called to the shadow team because I played well. From there I got a chance in the 'A' team. I have to make a comeback by playing well here. This is a big opportunity for me,” Sabbir concluded.
