Sanjay appeals to return as IPL commentator

Indian commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, who was dropped from the Indian Premier League (IPL) commentator panel, has requested the BCCI to allow him to return to the IPL commentary again. The former Indian cricketer has been embroiled in controversy since he started his career in commentary.

He has caused controversy by making baseless remarks and insulting cricketers and cricket-related people. Although he was regularly seen in the IPL commentary room, in May this year, a board headed by Sourav Ganguly removed him from the IPL commentator panel.

The IPL was scheduled to take place in March this year. But due to the outbreak of coronavirus, it was stopped. Sanjay was dropped from the IPL commentary panel before the start of the IPL on the previously announced date. After being dropped, he expressed his displeasure on social media but remained silent for so long.

The days of rolling in the IPL are over. The T20 tournament will start on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates. The names of the commentators of this year’s tournament will be announced in a few days. With this decision in mind, Sanjay has appealed to the BCCI via e-mail to take him back.

Sanjay mentioned in his e-mail that he will strictly abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the BCCI. So he should be given another chance.

A BCCI official said Sanjay should be pardoned and taken back as he had expressed remorse for his actions. But it all depends on the decision of board president Sourav and secretary Joy Shah.
