Semi-finals schedule for 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup confirmed
The semi-final line-up of 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup has been confirmed after the completion of the group stage matches on Monday, November 18.
Group ‘A’ consisted of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Oman and Sri Lanka. Pakistan had been the group champion of Group ‘A’ with 3 wins in 3 matches. And the group runners-up position went to Afghanistan. They won two matches out of three. Oman placed in third position with one win while Sri Lanka found themselves in the last position with no win.
Being top two teams in Group ‘A’, Pakistan and Afghanistan qualified for semi-final stage.
Besides, the four teams of Group ‘B’ were- Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Hong Kong. Hosts Bangladesh had been the champion of this group with 100 percent winning percentage. Group runners-up India won two matches. Nepal placed in third position with one win and the fourth position went to Hong Kong as they didn’t win any matches.
In semi-final stage, the champion team of a group will compete with another group’s runners-up team. In this case, Bangladesh will compete against Afghanistan and the other semi-final will see the old rivalry between India and Pakistan.
The semi-final matches will be held on November 20 and November 21. India and Pakistan will fight in the first semi-final on November 20 and in other semi-final hosts Bangladesh will play against Afghanistan on November 21.
The venue for both matches is Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The final match of the tournament will also play in this venue on November 23.
