BCB however decided to remove the umbrellas after questions were raised regarding exposure of the banned cricketer during an international series.

On explaining the incident, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said,

“The thing is that it is a sensitive issue as Shakib has been banned by ICC. It is a sensitive issue as this an ICC committed series and is being broadcasted all over the world. So, we decided to remove them [umbrellas].”

Meanwhile BCB media committee chairman Jalal Younus to the media regarding the matter, “Shakib’s photo [on the umbrellas] can be a reason.

“There are some regulations of an international venue and one of them is suspended cricketers cannot be involved for promotional activities. I am however not sure if this is the reason at the moment but it can be. It might have been different if it was a in a football field.”
