National team Test captain Shakib Al Hasan has finally canceled the contract with the controversial portal Betwinner. As a result, the ongoing controversy surrounding him is on the way to an end. Bangladesh
Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon himself confirmed the cancellation of Shakib's contract.
Shakib recently signed a partnership with sports media, a betting platform associated with online media. Even in events like cricket, Bangladesh law is against betting. So there are thousands of questions about Shakib's partnership.
The board contacted Shakib on this issue and ordered them to cancel the contract. However, Shakib was said to be adamant about keeping his contract. The BCB president made it clear that the board will not have any relationship with Shakib unless he cancels his contract.
Within a few hours, Shakib announced the decision to cancel the contract. BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon said, “I have heard that Shakib has canceled the contract verbally. However, he must give us in writing that he has canceled his contract with Betwinner News. The management will then proceed with the rest of the process.”
The Asia Cup team announcement has also been delayed due to Shakib's incident. Shakib, who was given the Test captaincy last month, was likely to return to T20 leadership with the Asia Cup. But the controversies created by this agreement turned all calculations upside down.
