Shaw is the young Indian batsman who impressed me the most: Saba Karim
Delhi Capitals’ young opening batsman Prithvi Shaw made waves in the Indian Premier League. The 21-year-old batsman hogged the limelight when he smashed 6 fours in an over off Kolkata Knight Riders’ pacer Shivam Mavi’s bowling.
Carrying the momentum, the youngster went on to score the second-fastest fifty in IPL 2021 as he accomplished the landmark in 18 balls. He has had the best season so far in his IPL career. Having played all 8 games this season, he scored 308 runs at a batting average of 38.50 before the competition got postponed due to a spike in coronavirus cases in the bubble.
Shaw smashed three half-centuries and maintained an exceptional strike rate of 166.48, which is really impressive. The youngster drew praises for his imperious batting performance. The likes of Virender Sehwag, Harsha Bhogle, Aakash Chopra and others praised Shaw.
Meanwhile, former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Saba Karim is the latest to shower praise on the 21-year-old batsman. Karim added that Shaw has been the most superb young Indian batsman in IPL 2021.
During a recent interaction with India News, the former Indian player added that Shaw and Dhawan helped take the Delhi Capitals to the top of the points table.
“If we talk about one player, Prithvi Shaw is the young Indian batsman who impressed me the most because we have seen a brilliant turnaround. The impactful knocks Prithvi Shaw has played along with Shikhar Dhawan, because of that only Delhi Capitals are in such a strong situation,” said Karim.
Saba also appreciated the young batsman for the hard work he has put in to take his game to the next level. “Prithvi Shaw has contributed in every match, and the biggest thing is that the consistency we have seen in his batting is the result of hard work and his strong temperament, and it shows how much effort the youngster has put in to come back in good form,” added Karim.
