Bangladesh won the Under-19 World Cup in 2020. Two members of that team Shoriful Islam and Mahmudul Hasan Joy are now in the Bangladesh Test team. They won the World Cup under the coaching of Naveed Nawaz, but he’s now in the opponent team for the first time.
Former head coach of Bangladesh U-19 team Naveed is now the batting coach of Sri Lanka national team. Going to work in a new role, old memories are rocking him. Shoriful and Joy have settled down in the national team. Naveed's prediction, these two will be legends in the future.
“I hope they will one day become the legend of Bangladesh cricket. They must be happy to see me, we have not met for quite some time. All in all, it may be positive.”
Naveed believes that he has sown the seeds to build a good cricketer in Shoriful and Joy. “They have the skills to handle any situation. It doesn't matter if I stay or not. They have had success in international cricket. We have to go to different countries in the future and adapt. Our job as coaches is to prepare the players so that they can perform in any international match,” he added.
Naveed, who spent the last four years in Bangladesh, has returned to the role of a visitor. He is very excited about this, “It feels good to be back. I have enjoyed four years in Bangladesh. I had a great time. I think in my four years I have been able to give something to Bangladesh, I have been able to do justice.”
