With that, six teams are now confirmed to be on stage of BPL – 3. In this regard, Mr. Nazmul Hasan Papon, President of Bangladesh Cricket Board expressed his satisfaction saying, “Although being late, Barisal Burners have paid the dues and also gave in five crores taka as bank guarantee.”

Earlier in a statement BCB Chief announced that they want BPL to occur with six teams although it would be possible to arrange the tournament even with five teams on the slot. Now as Barisal Burners have joined in the run, Mr. Nazmul Hasan is hopeful of having one more team to join.

“We are discussing with two more teams and between them, one team might give in the required monetary amount within a short period of time. We have conferred the responsibilities to BPL governing council who will take necessary decisions as per the regulations given by BCB”- Mr. Papon said.

In the meantime an old franchise group who had cleared the dues prior to the present owners of Barisal Burners, has shown their eagerness to own the franchise while the present group also joined in the competition by fulfilling their requirements to gasp the ownership for one more time.

However BCB President took the side of those who had joined in the run earlier saying, “We are not sure whether we could retain the ownership of Barisal Burners to the Alif Group. Those who paid within the allotted time frame, surely can claim the benefit of it.”
