SL victorious in sole T20I encounter
Sri Lanka have sealed the low-scoring one-off T20I thriller by three wickets against South Africa at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. It was a day for bowlers in the sold-out match.
JP Duminy, South Africa’s stand-in captain, chose to bat first. The start was not good for the visitors as Hashim Amla fell for a duck to Dhananjaya de Silva after being caught at extra cover in the second over. Quinton de Kock was then run out for 20 off 11.
It was a continuation of wickets falling down. Chinaman spinner Lakshan Sandakan took three wickets in the eleventh over which put the hosts on top. Akila Dananjaya and de Silva bagged two wickets each.
South Africa were bundled out for 98 runs in 16.4 overs. It was the first time ever they were bowled out for under a hundred in T20Is.
In reply, Kagiso Rabada struck twice in the first over with the wickets of Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis. Dinesh Chandimal and de Silva hung around in a 53-run stand. de Silva hit 31 runs off 26 balls including 4 fours and 2 sixes.
