‘SLC President and everyone congratulated us after the win’

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon has expressed regret at the series of incidents that led to a broken glass of the Bangladesh dressing room and also termed as unacceptable.

In the press conference in the team hotel on Saturday, Nazmul said: “Sri Lanka Cricket have contacted our board regarding the matter [broken glass door in the dressing room. Our CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury had informed me about it through phone.”

He added: “When I went there was broken glass lying in the dressing room. But the situation was such that we could not find out in detail why and who have done that. We will try to find it out.”

The BCB President thinks his players might have done the damage: “Probably it is done by anyone from our team. Considering our recent standings in the world cricket it is surely not acceptable.”

But Nazmul believes this incident will not effect the relations between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka: “I don’t think such an incident can make any impact as far as our relationship with SLC is concerned because it is very strong. The SLC president and everyone congratulated us after the win.”

Within 12 noon on Saturday, the ground staff was asked to submit a report to the match referee to find out who broke the glasses of the Bangladesh dressing room. But the ground staff has informed the match referee that the CCTV footage doesn’t give any indications as to who caused damage to the visitors’ dressing room.
