Smith topples Kohli in latest ICC Test rankings

Virat Kohli and Steve Smith unquestionably the best batsmen in Test cricket at present, can say for sure. The Indian captain has kept the top of the Test rankings for quite some time. However, this time he has lost the place to former Australian captain Steve Smith. Smith has come out on top toppling Kohli.

Smith topples Kohli in latest ICC Test ranking

Kohli had to go back to the no. 2 spot because of a failure in batting in the first Test against New Zealand. Kohli scored 21 runs in two innings at Wellington. He was out for 2 in the first innings. He scored 17 runs in the second inning. New Zealand defeated India by 10 wickets in the first Test.

The failure of the Wellington Test has had an impact on Virat’s personal ranking. Losing valuable rating points, standing at 906 points. Steven Smith, on the other hand, has 911 rating points. Smith came out on top as Kohli came in second.

The former Australia captain has taken the no.1 spot in the ICC Test Rankings for the eighth time. Both Kohli and Smith have been sharing the top of the Test batsmen for a long time.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was crowned the ICC’s number one Test batsman for just 8 days in December 2015. Williamson is currently in third with 853 points.
